Signs and Symptoms
Periodontal disease can progress without any signs or symptoms. It is sometimes referred to as the “silent infection,” since it is usually painless until it reaches an advanced stage.
This is why regular visits to our office are essential. If you experience any of the following symptoms, though, please see us right away.
- Red or swollen gums
- Bleeding when brushing or flossing
- Aching, itchy, or tender gums
- Bad breath
- Pus between your teeth and gums
- Loose teeth
- Spaces between teeth
- Receding gums (teeth beginning to look longer)
